............................Kie
Ashworth
|
|||
|
I first saw Kie ride at the gravity game in 2004. I had never
heard of him before that and i was impressed with his tech skills
and gutsy riding. Then at the Joondalup festival in 2005 again
he ripped up the course and blew me away on his riding. I thought
that this young kid had one of the best styles around and I
rang him up and asked if he wanted to do some shows with Freestyle
now. The trip up to Corrigin for his first show was a long drive.
We all got to know each other fairly well. While we were in
between show I saw Kie hanging out with this young kid,showing
him how to throw stones at a plastic bottle. He looked so comfortable
with this young kid, like he was his brother or something. I
knew then that Kie was a great rider to have on the team. In
the following months we went on many road trips for shows and
hanging out with the other squad members. Kie is always a great
laugh and hanging out with him is so much fun. Watching him
ride is something else. His power, style and flow is so amazing
to watch that when ever I
ride with him I am inspired to ride harder. - Shaun Jarvis - |

|||
| What can you remember most about that first show | |||
| I
remember running no brakes and the set up was kinda down hill, everytime
I would hit the box I would slam my feet down and let them drag to slow
me down before the red quater, the red quater was against a fence and on
the other side of that was about large drop. I remember almost going over that many times that day |
|||
| Type of bike and set up | |||
| It changes quiet often. At the moment it's a FBM stair master frame in 20.75, i got federal bars with an awesome paint job Artist-me. FBM forks, 7ka rims, coalition hubs, seat pole clamp sprocket and grips. | |||
| Main type of riding | |||
| I mostly ride park but i love dirt and lately a fair bit of street | |||
| What was your first bike | |||
| This
little red 16inch, I remember I was learning wheelies, flipped and ripped
the seat I cried and my dad duck tapped it back up. |
|||
| How did you get into riding | |||
| I
was just interested in the chrome BMX bikes and after I had one for Christmas
an older guy in the neighbourhood showed us some things he raced, and I
went to my first race meet with him in Kwinana it kinda took from there. |

|||
| Occupation | |||
| Hmm doing shows with Freestyle now gets me some money, working part time in a couple of bike shops. | |||
| What do you do in your spare time | |||
| Think a little too much. Usually non riding time consists of hacking through the bush 4wheeldriving. Usually me and mates will go to the beach. | |||
| Why do you ride | |||
| Because it's the most fun ive ever had | |||
|
What has been your worst injury or injuries |
|||
| I
have broken my right ankle real bad at the trails one afternoon, doctor
said it was like a puzzle to put back together, i have had a sprocket go
through my stomach gashed it real bad big hole the size of my hand there,
over 50 stitches on 3 different layers later im ok. Apart from them just
sprains and many many stitches. I hate hanging apart. |
|||
| What is your most favorite trick at the moment | |||
| I
never really have one, it will change all the time right now probably a
table air when i like the quater |
|||
| Fashion or function | |||
| Function?
As long as you are happy wearing what you are then that's fine enough for
me though. |
|||

| Cernotta yard as their trails are fun. I like Mandurah skate park a lot cause all of my friends ride there. | |||
| What else do you like to do | |||
|
